Well.. we all know it by now, commercial deodorants, like so many commercial goods unfortunately, contain lots of chemicals which have no business being near delicate armpits, vascular sstem, and lymph nodes… or any other body part for that matter!

Why this matters
Essentially. when we wear commercial deodorants, we are exposing our bodies to endocrine and hormone and lymph disrupting chemicals which can throw our body’s natural rhythm off and increasing our likelihood to experience disease… and cancer. Great opening line, right?! But it’s true. Let’s talk about why.
What I found most alarming in researching this topic, is that from an epigenetics perspective (the study of genes and mutation over time) when we expose ourselves to these chemicals, long term, we increase likelihood of gene mutation thus increasing our likelihood to experience cancer and disease.
What’s more is that while we might be only slightly affected, our future generations will continue to be more and more susceptible to disease and cancer with our continued exposure. I don’t even have children yet but I certainly want the best for them!!
And, when that day comes that we do have children, I certainly will not be wearing commercial deodorant because guess what, studies I read found the chemicals in deodorant leeched into the adipose (fatty) tissue of nursing mothers. AKA, feeding your baby a small dosage of deodorant chemicals. No thanks!
We’ve got to do something, friends. So I’m drawing my line in the sand, and it’s time to start wearing some natural deodorant. This is my first try with this and I imagine it will take some iterations before it gets just right, but so far, I’m loving this recipe from VW Family Farms. Thanks for sharing guys!
